Product description:Lysophosphatidic Acid (LPA) is a serum-derived phospholipid involved in diverse cellular processes such as cell proliferation, chemotaxis, platelet aggregation, wound healing, angiogenesis, tumor invasion, and smooth muscle contraction. Recent research indicates LPA may play a significant role in the pathophysiology of cancer and may be used as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. (*several literature citations indicate plasma LPA levels are elevated in ovarian cancer patients).
The Echelon LPA assay is a competitive ELISA. The user mixes a LPA standard curve and their samples with the anti-LPA antibody before adding to an LPA coated plate. The antibody then competes for binding to the LPA bound on the plate or in the sample. The plate is then washed before a HRP conjugated secondary detector is added. The HRP secondary detector binds the anti-LPA antibodies that bound LPA on the plate. After an additional incubation and plate wash, TMB substrate is added to the plate and the colorometric reaction stopped by the addition of 1N sulfuric acid. The absorbance at 450 nm is measured and the concentration of LPA in the samples are determined by comparison to the standard curve.
