Product Description:Silicon carbide (SiC, and also called carborundum) is a compound of silicon and carbon. It is widely known as a synthetic compound that is traditionally used as an abrasive, but nowadays is seeing applications in semiconductor electronics.

Uses:
Silicon carbide is used for blue LEDs, ultrafast, high-voltage Schottky diodes, MOSFETs and high temperature thyristors for high-power switching. A paper by Jayan Baliga[6] demonstrated the potential of SiC as a power device material.

Due to its high thermal conductivity, SiC is also used as substrate for other semiconductor materials such as gallium nitride.
