Terminalia catappa is used commonly as folk medicine in Taiwan, and has been claimed to have therapeutic effects for liver related diseases. Traditionally, only the fallen leaves of T. catappa were taken for this usage and were cooked in water as a drink. It has been reported that anticlastogenic effect of T. catappa leaves might be attributed to their antioxidant potential.
Our objective was to study the differences in antioxidant activities of solvent extracts from the leaves at three different maturation stages.
