As a beta-lactamase-resistant penicillin, it is used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, in particular, species of staphylococci that are resistant to other penicillins.Nafcillin is considered therapeutically equivalent to oxacillin, although its safety profile is somewhat different.
